About Simple Tool Deck
Simple Tool Deck started from a small, recurring annoyance: needing a quick tool — a password checker, a QR code, a CSV of test data — and instead landing on a page buried in ads, forced sign-ups, or a "free trial" that wanted a credit card. The tool itself was usually simple enough to build in an afternoon. The friction around it wasn't necessary.
So the site is built around one rule: every tool runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you type, upload, or generate is sent to a server, logged, or stored. There's no account system because there's nothing to attach an account to — your data never leaves your device in the first place. Close the tab, and it's gone.
What's on the deck right now
The current set of 13 tools covers the tasks that come up most often for students, developers, marketers, and anyone doing everyday admin work: building an email signature, checking a password's strength, merging a CSV into personalized documents, editing or password-protecting a PDF, generating sample data, creating QR codes, translating text, converting colors between formats, extracting emails from messy text, checking a suspicious sender against a claimed brand, running a simple counter, and shortening long URLs.
None of these are meant to replace dedicated professional software for heavy, ongoing work. They're meant to solve the specific, one-off version of the problem — the kind you hit once, need solved in under a minute, and don't want to install anything for.
How tools get added
New tools get added when the same small problem comes up often enough to be worth solving properly: something a friend, a colleague, or a comment somewhere online mentioned needing and couldn't find a clean, free, private version of. The principles behind the site
Private by default Client-side processing isn't a marketing claim here — it's the actual architecture. Anything that would require server-side processing (like sending actual emails) is intentionally left out of scope, because it would mean the site handling data it shouldn't need to touch.
No dark patterns No countdown timers on "free" tiers, no forced newsletter pop-ups before you can use a tool, no fake "3 people are using this right now" banners.
Free, without a catch No premium tier withholding basic features, no ad-blocker walls demanding disabled protection before access.
Fast over feature-heavy Each tool aims to do one job well rather than sprawling into a bloated multi-tool suite that's slow to load and confusing to use.
